Lagoa is a visual essay based around Lagoa De Óbidos, Portugal. The Lagoon is located in the Oeste sub region of Portugal (central west coast).

The natural tendency of the Lagoon is to close its connection to the sea, this network is made across an intermittent channel, whose transitional zone requires timely interventions to maintain its access. It is a constant battle for the local people to keep this free flowing water but this very compound is the key partnership of their community. I was drawn to how two seemingly opposing forces become interconnected, “The unity of opposites”.

The series visually focuses less on the lagoon itself but uses the surrounding areas as a dividing metaphor between man and nature. Each image is divided in someway.
